Billy, here are a few tips to help you to remember to swallow.
Tuck a clove or a piece of carrot between your teeth and cheek (like we
used to do for toothache) or chew gum (sugarless, preferably) to stimulate
the swallow reflex. If you tend  to choke, be careful with the
clove/carrot.

Perhaps sucking on a dummy (that's a soother or pacifier in your part of
the world) filled with something wonderful like condensed milk or whisky
might help too (just joking).
