Ruth... Run, don't walk, to another eye doctor!! I had similar eye problems (LOTSA Parkies do!) and was prescribed prisms in my newest trifocals AND in the new reading glasses with absolutely no hesitation upon the doctor's part. He discussed why he was adding the prisms with me as well as just prescribing them to me and they're very common - no big deal - for many people needing glasses and/or having chronic diseases. I'm back to doing needlepoint now! At the time of my annual eye examination I mentioned this to my doctor. She explained that my eyes do not come together in the proper manner (I can't give the technical explanation) and that eventually she could put prisms in my glasses but would not do that until I come to her and tell her that I cannot stand it any longer and then she will do so. She says that my eyes are unique. I wear trifocals and had wondered if a pair of reading glasses with only one focus for reading would help. She said this was the way to go and gave me this prescription since there was no reason to change my trifocals. It works VERY well for very close reading but my only problem is that I cannot read or do needlework, etc. at the distance from my lap which I am accustomed to doing a lot. I am far-sighted which may account for some of the problem. This may not mean anything to anyone else, but I still feel that the special reading glasses are the answer to my current problem and I hope it will help someone else. I am so grateful for vision and would hope to never be unable to read, even if many other abilities are taken from me. Thanks to all of you who give to the rest of us so much thoughtful and helpful information. May God grant us the cure we so much desire and seek, and help us to use our lives to serve Him and each other. Ruth
