Kathy,

What you were told certainly is the conventional wisdom.  The problem is
that the tricyclics - the other major group of non MAOI antidepressants
also has a theoretical risk combined with Eldepryl.  Since depression is
a serious condition sometimes even life-threatening many physisician ns
even aware of the possible risk prescribe SSRI's including Paxil with
Eldepryl.

One should not conclude that their physician is incompetent if he/she
suggests the combination.  Discuss the risk with your MD and arrive at a
treatment plan together.

I have taken Zoloft (another SSRI similar to Paxil) and Eldepryl
together Prescribed by nationally known experts in movement disorders.
