If you want to know what the possibilities are for pallidal stimulation,
which is the non- permanent version of pallidotomy, you can contact Dr.
William Koller at the University of Kansas Medical Center, where they have
done, I believe, 15 stimulations now. His phone number is 913-588-6970. Or
if you want more information from someone who has had the surgery, feel free
to e-mail us at the address listed below.

If you do decide you want to check into it, you might also ask Dr. Koller
where in the US they're doing subthalamic nucleus stimulations. He said
they're having good results from that surgery, but I can't remember where he
said it's being done. Florida, perhaps?

Thought this might give you something hopeful to hang onto for the future.
Meanwhile, good luck in Washington. We'll all be thinking of you.
