Thanks for the info. Dad's problems started immediately after the surgery. We at first blamed his inability to speak loudly on the fact that he had a large respirator tube down his throat for 24 hours after the surgery. Then, he couldn't move his arm for about 6 weeks (it turned out that they reattached the muscle wrong. He felt the muscle pop one day and has been able to move his arm pretty well since then!). But, what I noticed is that he definitely was weaker (since the surgery) on the right side. That's what made me think he'd had a stroke while he was "under". Anyway, if this has happened to anyone else, I'd like to hear about it. Trish Trish - Yes, my mother had this exact same situation. She had a total shoulder replacement surgery done two years ago and her symptoms came on after surgery! However, her PD was not diagnosed for 2 years if you can believe it. I never knew there was a relationship between mini strokes and PD but it seems like there is a commonality. Jill
