        Thanks for the info. Dad's problems started immediately after the
surgery.
We at first blamed his inability to speak loudly on the fact that he had a
large respirator tube down his throat for 24 hours after the surgery. Then,
he couldn't move his arm for about 6 weeks (it turned out that they
reattached the muscle wrong. He felt the muscle pop one day and has been able
to move his arm pretty well since then!). But, what I noticed is that he
definitely was weaker (since the surgery) on the right side. That's what made
me think he'd had a stroke while he was "under". Anyway, if this has happened
to anyone else, I'd like to hear about it.

Trish - Yes, my mother had this exact same situation. She had a total
shoulder replacement surgery done two years ago and her symptoms
came on after surgery! However, her PD was not diagnosed for 2 years
if you can believe it. I never knew there was a relationship between
mini strokes and PD but it seems like there is a commonality.
