Ronnie D.. I hadda unilateral (one side only) pallidotomy on Oct. 24. 1994, with outstanding results to the right side of my body (operation performed on the left side). Despite terrible job-related stress over a 10 month period, there was no noticeable difference in the right side of my body. Now the LEFT side - THAT is another story! (but that side didn't get the surgery!) For what it's worth, there's absolutely no pain involved in the surgery, and while a coupla hours spent having voluntary brain surgery isn't my idea of big fun, the results have been well worth it since the moment of the surgery (positive results were immediate!) <YIPPEE!> Barb Mallut [log in to unmask] [log in to unmask] -----Original Message----- From: Parkinson's Information Exchange On Behalf Of ron d Sent: Sunday, July 20, 1997 12:18 PM To: Multiple recipients of list PARKINSN Subject: ops Dear Barbara & List Members, As a new member, let me introduce myself. My name is Ronnie Discombe and I was diagnosed as having PD in Feb 1993. I live in Melbourne, Australia. Only during the past year have the ops for PD been performed in Australia. Therefore there is very little follow-up on the results after a couple of years has passed by. Has anybody on the list had the operations and could pass on any information on this subject?
