I want to be one of those people I've heard of who are still surviving with this thing after 30-40 years. If they can do it, so can I. I may not 'cure' myself, but I can still work on slowing it down. That to me is as good as a cure. I am going to a naturopath at the moment who believes that my pd may be more of a case of chemical poisoning and has put me on this detox program. Even traditional western medicine believes it may be triggered by toxins (altho' one may need to have the genetic predisposition to get pd). So far I feel like I have more energy and my symptoms have smoothed out a bit during the day, altho' I haven't been able to cut back on my meds yet. I've always wondered if pd may be triggered by toxins, why they don't spend more time boosting a person's resistance to them and helping them to clear their body of them. That should slow the progression even if it doesn't cure it. Why is all of the focus on the brain, when it may be the liver, thru an enzyme deficiency, which fails to filter out the toxins that lead to pd? Maybe neurologists in studying pd, should also be teaming up with those Dr's who specialize in treating liver disease. Makes sense to me. Wendy Tebay
