Dear friends,

As I reported yesterday, I had a neuro visit in the morning. He gave me
mirapex. Just started on the lowest dosage in the afternoon. Too soon to tell
if it's going to do anything, but not too soon to notice side effects. I'm
happy to report that so far, so good.
I guess I should mention that the doctor I saw was not my regular
neurologist, but her partner (she's on maternity leave.
The man I saw yesterday again - along with the other two neuros that I have
seen- stressed that my condition is not progressive; that, due to the nature
of the brain damage by CO poisoning, that I wasn't going to get any worse.
Which puts me in quite a unique situation. The static nature of my illness
puts me in a situation where I would be an excellent candidate for a fetal
tissue transplant (either human or pig). He said this was because a regular
P.D.er's brain is in a constant state of degeneration, and the grafts would
most likely only last a few years or so. But in my case, and pardon me if I
sound arrogant, if the tissue were successful in "Taking" in my brain, it
would be all the more vindication for the process.
He also mentioned something about receiving government funding. I told him "I
don't think so." However he was rather adament about this aspect of the
surgery.
Am I correct in assuming that this guy is, quite literally, a little left of
center. Or do his ideas sound legit to you.
