hi kathie

something about your friend's med schedule jumped out at me -
the timing of the eldepryl

in layparkie-terms, my understanding has always been that eldepryl behaves
like speed, and is recommended for morning and noon intake only [which is
what i do]; definitely NOT at night, due to the potential for sleep
disturbance. could it be possible that ron has the instructions reversed?

could you run through his total med intake schedule with his pharmacist?
his pharmacist could be an invaluable resource as a backup and confirmation
of his medical advice.

if, in fact, he has been taking eldepryl at night in error for a long time,
i wonder if he's suffering from something as simple as chronic sleep
deprivation, or at least sleep disturbance? if so, it may be a problem
which might manifest itself very slowly.

with all the 'brain news articles' i've been posting over the past two
years, it has become obvious to me that any long term sleep disturbance can
be a very serious and even dangerous health problem, both mentally and
physically.

it seems to me that his night-time meds are the automobile equivalent of
flooring the accelerator and slamming on the brakes at the same time. not a
comforting idea for anyone, let alone one with a brain chemistry imbalance.

i do hope this helps. please keep us up to date on his situation. he is
very lucky to have you acting as his advocate.

there but for grace, ...

your syber-sis
