Like other PD drugs it effects everybody differently. On average the drug is good early in the progress of the disease, and useally effectiveness wanes after a few months to a couple of years. (however as stated can last longer in certain people). Probably the most common side effects are anti-cholinergic (especially constipation), but other dopaminergic side effects can also occur. It is interesting, as stated in another post, that this drug was origimally used as an anti-viral drug and the dopaminergic effects were discovered by accident...Much of our dopamine research has resulted as the result of an accidental discovery.
