Fellow Advocates, We need help in the following 25 states: AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, IL, KY, MA, MD, MI, MN, NC, NJ, NM, NY, OH, OK, OR, PA, SD, TN, TX, VA, WA, WI. Apropos to Margie Nestler=92s Letter to the Editor being published by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, a Media Kit is available to all interested individuals and support groups who are willing and able to participate in a big push at the grassroots level to get all the support we can muster for the passage of the Udall bill in the 105th Congress. 25 states have been identified as having key leadership members in Congress and, therefore the Media Kits are targeted to these specific states.=20 Your help is needed to get a wide distribution of this packet. We only have snippets of support group lists, and what we need is an up-to-date list of active groups in each of the 25 states. This media kit has been developed to make contacting the media as easy as possible.=20 =20 The kit includes : * Press Release about the Udall Parkinson=92s Disease Research Bill, * Sample Letter to the Editor, * Copy of a recently printed Letter to the Editor=20 * Sample *Human interest story,* and * A camera ready copy of a newspaper advertisement developed individually for each of the 25 states. We suggest that you/your group contacts your local and regional news outlets (newspapers, radio and television) by sending them a copy of the Press Release, a personalized letter to the editor or a local reporter and a personalized human interest story written by one or two of your members (one younger, one older) using our sample as a starting point. Follow up with telephone calls to the newspapers, etc. and ask to speak with the reporter or editor assigned to the investigation of your press release, letter and story.=20 In addition, we hope your group will fund the printing of a newspaper advertisement [2 columns wide by 5" deep], listing and thanking the Senators and Representatives in your State who have cosponsored the Udall bill. The glaring absence of the names of non-cosponsoring Congressmen will alert them to our strong resolve to use all measures - even extreme ones, if necessary, to get the bill passed. A professionally duplicated camera ready ad is enclosed in the kit. Please let us know the results of your efforts. Post copies of stories, letters, ads, feedback, etc. which your efforts have generated.
