Hi, I am new to the list and actually joined to better help my patients
with Parkinson Disease. I am a speech language pathologist and have
enjoyed everyone's comments. As for injections..they can be done and are
not proven beneficial for everyone in the same way. Also, new injections
have to be done every 3-6 months. As for speech therapy, I do believe it
works there is a program called Lee Silverman that really works and does
amplify as well as make your speech more intelligable to unfamiliar
listeners. As I stated earlier, I am a speech language pathologist and I
have seen this approach prove to be very beneficial. I also work
extensively with my patients on breathing patterns because, like many of
you, they become short of breath or lack the respiratory drive to sustain
speech. I hope this has been helpful and I would love to speak with anyone
regarding injections, speech, and respiration. Good luck to all of you and
best wishes.
