The Range of Dramatic Activity in England in the 1560s," sponsored by the Medieval and Renaissance Drama Society at the 33rd International Congress on Medieval Studies. Papers should focus on one form of dramatic activity performed during the 1560s and discuss its features in terms of continuity and/or innovation on long established or newer dramatic forms, genres, themes, characters, stages, etc. The goal is to use the papers to introduce a discussion of the usefulness of traditional literary historical periodization (i.e., medieval/ renaissance) for the study of dramatic activity in the early years of Elizabeth's reign. After the presentation of five or six papers, therefore, the audience will be invited and encouraged to discuss the topic, along with the presenters. Proposals should be sent by Sept. 15 to: Jesse Hurlbut 4002 JKHB Provo, UT 84602 [log in to unmask] tel. 801-378-2448 fax. 801-378-4649
