It is not total clear, whether you all talk about the same phenomenon.
I did have internal non visible tremor in my back, before I took meds.
It was more unpleasant than a tremor in my hand, because when it was present
my back "wanted" to stretch to much. The neuro, who is a specialist
in extra pyramidal movement disturbances, started too with not believing it.
However, it could very clearly be seen on an electromyograph (measured from
outside with an electrode). The tremor specialst in that hospital said it
looked like it came from the cerebellum. It has disappeared when I started
with sinemet. Although this is an unknown phenomenon, it can clearly be
measured.
I had it next to visible tremor in my hand.

Ron Reiner
///I also have these sensations which I can only describe as nerve cells firing
///randomly. If I lie completely still (e.g., meditate), I sense a steady
///stream of low intensity muscle spasms all up and down my arms and legs.
///Sometimes I would describe it as almost painful.

/// find it interesting that those of us who have "internal shakiness" don't
///seem to have a VISABLE tremor.

Baldwin;
///When I was diagnosed with PD four years ago, I felt an internal tremor or
///shakiness, or nervousness or tenseness. It was a strong pulsing at a
///frequency of 5 to 20 cycles per second that I felt throughout my body---in
///my abdomen, legs, arms, and extremities. It was painful.

I too had another kind of unrest, before being diagnosed. I wrote about that in
the akatisia thread. Some time ago somebody on the list described it as feeling
anxious without the cognition, which is a part of real anxiety. It causes an
unrest which is not local. Not being able to stay seated and feeling an urge to
walk up and down the room. It is different from dyskinesia because it is
possible to resist the urge for a short time and having to move a choice
remains in which movements I chose. Is this akathisia? This symptom is
diminished by sinemet. It was very strong in the weeks before I was diagnosed.
But it never disappeared. I once described it as an inability to rest and relax
when tired, which is in my opinion important for feeling the Joy of Life.
It seems to have something in common with the psychiatric diagnosis of "
agitated depression". But I am not sure of that.
These symptoms are all quite different from dyskinesia.

Baldwin, is this the same as in the other Quote or is it something else?

///Just before I was diagnosed with PD four years ago, I sometimes felt
///an irresistible urge to get up and leave the room. I would walk down the
///hall a short distance, turn around, and come back. A few minutes later I
///would do it again. I felt like screaming, but did not make a sound. Then
///I got the urge to leave the room again. I was frantic.

Lawrence F
///Before I was diagnosed I also experienced an internal shakiness. I
///attributed it to anxiety and my GP prescribed a beta-blocker

Mary L. I am not sure about this. Is the motor 'revving' in a way that could
be measured as a tremor?
///I'm glad this topic has been brought up, as I too have very much wanted an
///explanation of this phenomenon. I experienced this before my PD diagnosis,
///when I described it to my neuro (who was treating me for migraines &
///insomnia) as an "internal revving motor"

Debbie White's Mother
///She now remembers that the internal nervousness predates the diagnosis.
