No, I am not joking. Today the surgeon's office called to schedule Bob's pallidotomy and they explained that they are having some difficulty with the insurance company, BCBS of Florida. BCBS told them that this procedure should be done on an outpatient basis. Yes, the girl at the surgeon's office did ask to speak to a nurse coordinator, but the reply was the same. Currently, we are waiting for their Director of Ins. to phone the surgeon. The girl at the surgeon's office said they have NEVER encountered such a thing. Has anyone ever heard of this before? perhaps this is just a Florida thing? Anyway, we are very hopeful (outpatient or inpatient) the surgery is scheduled for this Friday (9/26) !! this is perfect because Bob's 47 birthday is the next day, 9/27! Jackie
