Does anyone know how you can find out how many Social Security "credits"
you have, and how many were earned in each year? I got one of those "Your
Personal Earnings and Benefit Estimate Statement(s)" which provides a
history of your earnings and estimated retirement benefits and disability
benefits. It adds, " ... If you become disabled right now, you need 29
credits to qualify for disability payments. You had to earn 20 of these
credits in the last 10 years. Your record shows that you have earned
enough credits within the right time." I haven't paid any meaningful
social security taxes since 12/31/95, however. How can I figure how long
I have before I will not have earned the 20 credits within the last 10
years? This report is date 1/4/97. There is no ability to ask the SSA
questions on their web site, www.ssa.gov, and I understand calling them is
useless. The part-time work I do now pays more than the SSDI payment would
be, but I would hate to shoot myself in the foot long term. Thanks. Bruce
