Guilford Reports Brain Cell Regeneration
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

BALTIMORE, MD, Sep 24 (Reuters) - Guilford Pharmaceuticals Inc. said
Tuesday that interim results from a continuing study of Parkinson's disease
in a primate model showed that one of its agents can cause brain cells to
regenerate.

The company said that the FKBP-neuroimmunophilin small molecule
neurotrophic agent, which it calls GPI-1046, can also improve behavioral
measures in the primate model of the disease.

The results are from an ongoing three-part, dose-escalation study of
GPI-1046 in a Rhesus monkey MPTP model of Parkinson's disease.
