Dr. Iacono was one of the first to perform the stimulator operation before
FDA approval and also the very first in the US to perform it right after
FDA approval. The operation was partially televised in the LA area on the
networks, and Dr. Iacono's patient had surgery with out any extended stay,
and received a fine-tuning on a follow-up appt. Dr. Lozano is right in
stating that too much or too little might bring on bad results, mainly
return of the symptoms. The adjustments shouldn't, however, need frequent
changing unless the probe is actually moving!

Subject: Re: Pallidotomy and Pallidal Stimulation

A point I havent seen mentioned is one that DR. LOZANO in Toronto told me
point blank:

If you want to undergo a stimulation op you MUST live in Toronto for ONE
MONTH.
This is because it must be :tuned: very frequently to achieve the optimum
electrical charge. Too little or too much will bring bad results.

ALSO, when Lozano does it, he requires his patients to come in for a
checkup
ONCE A MONTH and that can be very expensive if you are coming frm any
distance.
