First of all, you must select the Reply function. Some programs will ask you if you want to quote the message while others may have that as an option setting. If you are getting the digest the whole thing will be quoted upto the limit of your editor. What I do is copy the exact message I want to quote and then select Do Not Copy Message. Of course the drawback there is that you have to supply the delimeter (usually a ">") yourself. One thing I also do is send a copy of my reply to the originator since a lot of people (like me) quite often do not get a chance to read every digest.
