Emily, you asked -

> If she can't walk without falling, then can't she use
>a wheelchair? There are plenty of people there in wheelchairs. And this
>sudden increase in falling, couldn't it have been a drug reaction. She just
>started Amantadine a week ago, and increased the dosage a few days ago. The
>nursing staff at the residence said that she's been falling for a week and
>even more over the weekend and Sunday night and all day Monday she was
>nauseous.

You're right to be suspicious of whatever has changed in your mother's life
to coincide with the sudden falling. I don't know anything about Amantadine,
so I can't help you there. But I will say that PD doesn't usually cause
DRASTIC changes in condition - even though there are plenty of medical
professionals who may try to tell you it will. Hang in there and be
assertive for your mother's sake. If you think it's the amantadine, can you
get the doctor to let her discontinue it on a trial basis?

We'll be thinking about you and your mother. Margie Swindler
