You are invited:

On Monday afternoon, November 10, 1997, at a meeting of DAPS, (the Dallas
Area Parkinsonism Society), Kathrynne Holden will be the featured speaker.
The meeting is held at the University Park United Methodist Church, which
is located within Dallas at 4024 Caruth, just east of Preston Road, south
of Northwest Highway and north of Lovers Lane. The meeting starts at 1:00
PM. Refreshments are served after the meeting.

So what?

If you live in the general area of Dallas, please come and meet Kathrynne.
We expect that a small group of listmembers will be there, including
Kathrynne, of course, and me. Will Kuipers, Barry Green, Jim and Emily
Jackson, and Marvin Giles (and Kristen?) are among the others who have said
that they'll try to make it, Parkinsonian problems allowing.

And if you don't live that close to Dallas, I'll not tell you that it is
the tourist mecca that some of the spots suggested for a reunion are. But
it is centrally located, easy and relatively inexpensive to get to, and not
too expensive to stay in. The weather in mid-November is not likely to be
freezing, nor is it likely to be bathing suit weather. Some people
celebrate Veterans Day (Armistice Day) this weekend, so they would have a
day off anyway.

So when I say you're invited, I mean anybody on the list, whether you are
living in a Dallas suburb like I am or 1562 miles away in Boston, or even
on the opposite side of the globe. Plane fare from Boston to Dallas and
return, by the way, is as little as $204.00, for example, when you leave
after 2:00 on Saturday afternoon and return any time Monday or Tuesday,
including non-stop flights. That's not beans, but it is a good fare, and
generally only a three-day advance purchase is required. Some airports
have even lower fares, usually with a three-week advance purchase
requirement and tighter restrictions.

Lewisville, where I live, is near the DFW airport and is located on a major
interstate highway going into Dallas. It has a bunch of new motel rooms
going from $40.00 per night to $100.00, depending on your taste. Dining is
moderate. And if you don't want the expense of a car, we'll try to get you
rides from the locals.

If there are any listmembers arriving from out of town for the weekend,
I'll have my time blocked out to attend to your needs and show you around.

If you're interested in meeting with Kathrynne and hopefully a group of
other listmembers and plan to join us, please let me know your intentions
so that I can coordinate things and know what events to plan. I will also
be pleased to help you with your accommodations. (No, I am not a travel
agent, I will not refer you to one, and I have no financial interest in this.)
