Barbara has now completed five weeks on Mirapex and her results may be of interest. Other medications: 1 5mg Eldypry breakfast; 1 Sinemet 25/100 at 7:00 a.m.; 8 Sinemet CR 50/200 2@Break, 2 1/2@lunch/Dinner, 1 bedtime. She had been on Permax but reduced it in half week 1 and to zero week 2. Week 1. 1 mirapex .125mg at meals (total .375) Nausea early part of week but disappeared; some tremor developed (probably due to decrease in permax) but some slight overall improvement. Her sense was Permax had been decreased too soon. Week 2. 2 mirapex .125mg at meals (total .75) Some early week nausea and tiredness. Performance varied. Overall seemed to tolerate the Mirapex quite well. Week 3. 2 mirapex .25mg at meals (total 1.5) The days did seem to get better. On occasion able to get out of bed without using hands - which was not possible earlier. Some additional edema in feet. Week 4. 3 mirapex .25mg at meals (total 2.25) A physical therapist who had not seen Barbara in about a month commented that she was stronger and more readily able to move in bed and get up. Week 5. 3 mirapex 1.0mg at meals (total 3.0) Movement is noticeably improved; more tired than usual. Not optimized yet. Telcon with neurologist: Proceed slowly. Stay with 1.0 mg at meals and add 0.5mg in mid-afternoon. Our children have noticed the improvement when they visit, so it is probably real. We are hopeful the added 0.5mg will do the trick. Overall feels much better. [log in to unmask]
