In the latest issue of the "Grapevine", a newsletter from a PD group in Fairbor
n, OHio, there is mention of a diagnostic test for PD, "DOPASCAN". It is a
radio-pharmaceutical administered by injection, which "allows physicians to
obtain pictures of dopamine neurons with conventional brain scanning". This
can measure the deterioration of the neurons, and help diagnose PD. It will
"probably be many years before Guilford Pharmaceuticals will successfully
develop DOPASCAN into a safe and effective FDA_cleared drug so it cam be used
as a diagnostic test, however. They "hope to begin Phase III trials after
consultation with FDA. Has anyone any additional info about this??? In view
of the large number of errors in dxing PD, this cold be a real breakthrough.
