Prolonged Q-T syndrome has recently been identified as major culprit in
sudden death where no apparent pathology exists. Diagnosis is made after
death through the examination of past EKG's. The syndrome is considered
genetic, so families (extended families) of victims are encouraged to seek
medical attention in an effort to identify carriers of the syndrome. EKG
evidence of prolonged Q-T syndrome requires that the individual take
appropriate medication - which removes the risk of sudden death.

It is a frightening prospect that PWP may be subject to prolonged Q-T
syndrome because of the dynamics of the disease. Any mention of this in
medical literature, or in case findings, will hopefully be posted on this
list. I certainly would want to bring such information to the attention of
my husband's doctor.
