Y'know, Fatta, I ALWAYS think about all that when EVER I eat ice cream!
<grinning, ducking & running> (Ooops! Sorry, just couldn't resist...)

Actually, Dr. Iacono's just about the only neuro I know who LISTENS to his
patients and takes what THEY say about the disease AND how their own body
feels into account.

I appreciate THAT in Dr. I.... That, and he seems to know more about PD and
it's treatment than just about any other MD I've been to.

One of the most interesting explanations about the magic of ice cream was
explained to me by Dr. Iacono. Ice cream's 3 main ingredients are milk, sugar
&
cholesterol. Ice cream increases brain Serotonin levels by doing the
following:
milk prevents the conversion of Serotonin to melatonin, sugar causes insulin
to
be released which essentially prevents breakdown of Serotonin, and finally
cholesterol knocks tryptophan off of its protein carriers making it available
for Serotonin production. We also know that decreased exposure to sunlight
causes a Serotonin depletion. This might explain why Alaska has the highest
per
capita consumption of ice cream in the US :)
