To Dale, and others--- I regret if you got the impression that we would write to NPF as spokespersons for anyone but ourselves....that is not the case, for sure. I was conveying to you Peter's immediate reaction after I read to him the *whole long* explanation of the Florida experience, which we had not seen before. The NPF spokesperson gave the impression that Ivan's d ecision to leave afdter the long wait was capricious, a simple matter of a dinner date, while it was more complicated than that, it seems. In a post today Ivan seems to suggest that he MAY take some legal action to try to clarify things. I would regret that, but it has to be his decision. As for the NPF/APDA matter,we are aware of the scandal about embezzlement from them in the past, and haven't contributed for that reason. It does pose a dilemma....and any amount we can give would be insignificant in any case--just a token expression of our dissatisfaction. (Wouldn't do much to help Ivan, either, as was suggested.) Let me say that, until Peter's strong reaction, I had not taken part in the *great Ivan debate* largely because, while sympathetic and aware of his situation financially, I was "put off", as many were, by the tone of his posts, and the continuing pleas that THE LIST do something. There is obviously wide divergence of opinion here re: the matter, and no one should presume to speak for anyone but her/himself . Incidentally, APDA claims to have gotten its act together, and as we are going to see a MDspecialist at an APDA-affiliated clinic next week, it might not be inappropriate in our case to give them a small gift. This is just one more example of the various viewpoint on this worldwide list, and I hope noone is offended by our point of view, even if they don't share it.
