Tonight I forgot that there was a football game, and instead watched one of
our two public television stations. After the newshour with Jim Lehrer, a
program titled "Your Brain II" came on. I was in the office with the
computer when it came on, so I only listened to the first half - but
finally went into the living room to give the last half full attention.
This particular program focused on clinical depression, but there was
mention of Parkinson's as well. It was produced at WHYY in Philadelphia,
apparently in 1996, and support for the program came from the Charles A.
Dana Foundation.

I had not been consciously aware of the Charles A. Dana Foundation, but
they have a web site - http://www.dana.org - and to quote their own
description,

"At this site you will find extensive information about the programs,
activities, and publications of the Dana Foundation and the Dana Alliance,
as well as material of interest to any one concerned about brain diseases
and disorders and about innovative reforms that strengthen early education."

Indeed, I found a number of new and interesting things at the site,
including a line to a NINDS booklet, "Parkinson's Disease: Hope Through
Research," which is complete and online.

I looked at a number of websites for more information on the program "Your
Brain," which appears to be one of a series and which also appears not to
be a PBS (Public Broadcasting System) distributed show. I found nothing.
Transcripts of the show, however, are available at this telephone number,
1-800-65-BRAIN.

Purposes of this post are two - to alert others to this television show
(series), should it appear in your area - and to see if anybody else is
familiar with the Dana Foundation.
