Subject: Udall's Victory! Part 3
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit

This is a continuation of my e-mailer I just sent. It concludes my
thoughts on
receiving Larry Hoffheimer's early AM message about the Udall
Bill --
which being the computer moron I am I simply could not figure
out how to
do as part of the original message.........

Sadly, one's thoughts also turn to Morris Udall, the long-term,
much-
loved Congressman who, shortly before PD found him, vied for and
richly deserved his Party's presidential nominaton. Today he lies in a
catatonic state,
unable to move or talk, and it's doubtful that he understands
anything being
said to him. Still, you can bet your bottom dollar that John McCain is
even now
planning his next visit to his old friend, Mo Udall, to bring him the
news of the imminent passage of the Bill that bears his name -- and
which will be a
lasting tribute to the man and his contributions to the nation and to
the world!

My thoughts in the end rested on the magnificent spirit of the many
victims and carepartners who awake each morning not knowing for sure
what
pain and suffering lies ahead nor how far the disease may have
progressed
during the night, but joyful to possess life and determined to hold on
to it --
cheerful people like Anna and Harry Carruth, Judy and Bernie Brodsky
and Frances and Red Brigham who believe with all their hearts -- as do
I -- that
research funded by the Udall Bill will provide our salvation. Knowledge
of
what passage of the Bill means to them and visions of their reaction
to that news so fills my heart that I wish I could kick my heels
together like Gene Kelly dancimg with sheer happiness to "Singin'in
the Rain" as the magical
sounds of Stoltzman' s clarinet flood through my earphones........

        Great Day in the Morning!
