Joe asked if Monsodium Glutamate was a neurotransmitter.
   In Blaylock, M.D.'s book Excitotoxins, the Taste that Kills, he describes
it this way:
   " Neuoroscientists have discovered that glutamate is one of the most
common neurotransmitters in the brain.  Its role is primarily that of an
excitatory substance, that is it causes the brain to be stimulated, much the
way cocaine does."
   He has much more to say about it, but I think this answers the immediate
question.
