It appears that we immediately need to prompt the President to exercise a line-item veto on the last-minute House-Senate conference Attachment to the Udall Bill--a poison pill courtesy of Senator Coats and friends, which threatens to nullify all our efforts and hopes for the NIH funding directive. It's been argued that the measure doesn't mean what it quite clearly says to most of us Parkies. It's also argued that the President may not use a line-item veto on this item. Just to be safe, let's write and fax the President anyway. My own fax is self-explanatory. Who will do likewise, and spread the word? --Lee Baxandall in Oshkosh
