Judith, one of the advantage of the Internet is the free exchange of
information.  But the reader of the information must have a great deal of
skepticism.  The snake oil salesmen have found a new forum; it is called
the Internet.  And they have found new potential victims of their scams;
these victims are called Internet users (these users used to be called marks).
