Barbara was started on Amantidine (Symmetrel) a few weeks ago because the Sinemet and Permax was giving her intense "on's" and "off's" after 8 years. She started with two a day and that seems to smooth out the ups and downs considerably. The only side effect she seems to experience is hallucinations - not nightmares - but she sees and talks to people whom she 'sees' nearby. Yet, she is somewhat normal, whatever that means.
