HI Emily,

Compazine is used primarily to control nausea and vomiting.  It is
however a "phenothiazine".  Other drugs in that class include the
antipsychotics like chloropromazine(Thorazine),  Trifluoperizene
(Stelazine) and others.  All these drugs block the effect of dopamine.
They can cause what are referred to extrapyramidal side effects while
someone is taking them.  These are symptoms PWP experience.  There is no
evidence- that I am aware of- that use of these drugs predisposes one to
develop PD.  However someone with early PD is much more likely to
experience the side effects while the  taking the drugs.  Compazine
definitely should not be used by PWP except in very rare cases.
