            One other useful treatment for constipation used by the GI
doctors is the colon preparation "colyte". Take 8 ounces before retiring in
the evening or less if it works for you.
            Colyte is a mixture of polyethylene glycol and sodium & potassium
salts.
I believe the PEG causes an increase in osmotic pressure & thus an increase
in water content in the stool. The sodium & potassium chlorides,
bicarbonates, & sulfate maintain the proper electrolyte equilibrium.
