Judith, it is nice to know there is resistance to the "show me the money"
attitude.
Patients and their families should start asking questions before choosing
insurance and medical facilities. When you are suffering and need quick
treatment, there is usually no time to change things. Many employers give a
choice between plans that let you use a doctor of your choice, and those that
force you to use a doctor associated with the plan, and many require you to
see a that doctor before you get to see a specialist. I pay plenty for the
right to choose any doctor, and I can save money by going to one on the
official list, but I feel that my health is too important to trust to
strangers! I'd rather use a doctor reccommended by a happy patient, than
one picked by the insurance company because he is willing to work "cheap" or
would avoid reccommending proper treatments due to the cost factor. You
wouldn't take a Jaguar to a Yugo dealer for service to save a few bucks, so
why risk your life and well being for money?? Ken B
