George:
Local anesthisa is not ruled out for PD patients getting
dental work.
Be aware that the pain killer Demerol has been reported
to cause an interaction with Eldepryl (selegiline) in rare
cases.
Dentists require full disclosure by the PWP of all the PD
medications and then they should consult with the
neurologist to get medical clearance before major work, such
as root canal.
The American Parkinson Disease Association in NYC
publishes a list of contraindicated drugs for PWPs. Call
1-800-223-2732.
     Good luck! Stephan 53/7
