In reply to "help comforting a panicking SO" I can understand your feelings of both love and desperation and your wanting and needing someone you think wonderful to think you equally so. As a PWP (for 12 years) married to another PWP (for 11-12 yrs) whom I met in a PWP Support group), I am writing to offer you some hopefulness for yourself even if this lovely woman cannot be reassured. 1) there can be someone for you--keep hope and faith and determination 2) Research in the PD field is galloping. I know of two extremely promising possibilities--though still in the research phase: the embryonic tissue transplants. and research on GDNF. This latter is being studied for its ability to prevent nerurodegeneration. Parkinson's Foundations, your neurologist, major hospital/university settings can give you more information. IF you have hope for yourself and your ability to find and receive the most promising treatments, Parkinson's may play less of a role in your courting and convincing the right woman that you and she do have a future tiogether. All good luck. Sincerely, Arlene Teichberg (57/12) : - ) ([log in to unmask])
