Dale.... It's not that it's a small world, it's just that YOU'RE ubiquitous! <grinning and ducking> Barb Mallut [log in to unmask] ---------- From: Parkinson's Information Exchange on behalf of Honie12440 Sent: Saturday, December 20, 1997 5:57 AM To: Multiple recipients of list PARKINSN Subject: First of 2 parts " It's a small world by Dale Severance" It's a small world isn't it=85It's a small world =85.sung to Disney's m= usic. I am feeling so good since connecting with Requip that I wanted to shar= e a few PD moments that have occurred since last Saturday nights support group = party held at Dr. Perez's home. At the party I met a woman who has had PD for= 16 years. I will call her LC. I spent time with her and she has had a palladomanty and is depressed. Wednesday my buddy Skip had an appointme= nt with Dr. Perez. We hang around together so I went to the hospital with Skip= for his appointment with Dr. Perez. While Skip was being questioned by the = nurse practitioner, Dr. Perez asked me to accompany him on his hospital round= s. One of the patients was LC from the party. After Skip completed his exam by= Dr. Perez we went back to visit LC. I promised I would stop back on Thursda= y to see her. I had an appointment on Thursday with a cardiologist in the ho= spital so I went early to visit LC. I arrived at noon and she was dressed sitt= ing in the hall waiting till 5PM for her boy friend to come and take her home.= I had just enough time to take her home to avoid her sitting in the hall for = 5 hours. I got back just in time for my appointment. Maureen waited in the recep= tion area and overheard a woman talking about PD. When I completed my exam, = Maureen mentioned that a lady in front of us had had a PD conversation with her daughter. I went over and introduced myself to the lady. Her husband ha= s had PD for 26 years (longest period that I am personally aware of) Her husb= and is house confined and we chatted for about 45 minutes. I invited her to th= e support group meetings. She said they had previous attended but had no= t been in ten years. She said they had a friend that they had lost touch named= L.C. This was of course the lady I had just met and taken home from the hosp= ital. I was able to advise them how to get in touch again. Nosey me in the rig= ht place at the right time. The same day while waiting in the doctor's office, I struck up a conver= sation with some patients waiting for their first appointment with Doctor Pere= z. I asked then if they were on the listserv and how they happen to travel f= rom Utica to Syracuse for treatment. Their handle is sugar & Spice and they= said Dale Severance had answered their internet inquire in Central NY for a movement disorder specialist. I tried to keep a straight face but at t= his point she realized that she was talking to Dale Severance from the inte= rnet. She filed her own report of her meeting with the doctor and myself a da= y or two ago.
