^^^^^^WARM GREETINGS FROM^^^^^^^^^^ Ivan Suzman 48/10 [log in to unmask] Portland, Maine land of lighthouses 16 deg. F North wind Roaring -- Frigid wind-chill *********************************************************** Hello All, Do you experience side-effects such as feeling a little WOOZY? Ankles swelling? Welcome to the world of low blood pressure!. The 4-question Low Blood Pressure Survey I posted in November has had 9 responses. THESE ARE LISTED BELOW for you to examine.. I hope the information at the bottom will help PWP's and CG's to make decisions more easily. Even in this tiny sample, MIRAPEX is strongly implicated as a cause of HUGE drops in blood pressure. Permax, Parlodel and Sinemet (and its generic form, Carbidopa-Levodopa) are suspected as well.: Any COMMENTS or THOUGHTS or ADDITIONAL RESPONSES would be welcome. I will be glad to update the results and post to the whole List periodically, if more of you add respones. ________________________________________________________________________________ PARKINSON's LOW BLOOD PRESSURE SURVEY Number. of Responses received: 9 < 1)" What is your gender (female or male), current age in years, time since PD onset in years?" 8 males. 1 female 79/8, 74/6. 69/5, 67/16, 65/1, 63/11, 54/10, 48/10, 48/10. < 2)" What is your typical blood pressure?" 145/70*, 130/90 130/80, 130/80, 127/75**, 116/80, 115/70, 115/70, 110/70 (*before PD; **highest, ranges usually from 95-115 for systolic) < 3)" Do any medications seem to lower your B.P.?" < 4)" How low has it gotten?" I have linked your answers to Questions 3 and 4 as follows: 70/30 (Mirapex); 78/42 (Mirapex), 90/60 (Mirapex and Sinemet); 90/60 (Permax), 80 - 100/? (Parlodel and Sinemet), 101/50 (Permax), 105/68 (Permax and Carbidopa/Levodopa), 112/70 (Mirapex), ?/? (Parlodel) The pattern I see is MIRAPEX is involved in the 3 LOWEST pressures reported, and Permax or Parlodel are also consistently involved. Mirapex dropped my usual 116/80 to 70/30 --I have had to give it up TOTALLY. Ivan Suzman Portland, Maine 48/10
