This is SO typical of PD, Dennis! (I know YOU know that, tho) <smile> But
wouldja believe that IF I take my first meds-of-the-day with breakfast, or
with any food other than a full 8 oz. glass of a sweet beverage
(sugar-sweetened ice tea, Coke, or naturally sweetened orange juice), the
drugs not only take MUCH longer to kick-in, but when they DO finally begin to
work, it's not anywhere near as well or as long as when they're taken only
with the beverage. (errrrrr.... did I tell ya I'm a world champion at creating
run-on sentences?) <giggle>

Not only that.... I feel MUCH better - PD-wise - if I just plain DON'T eat at
all! Unfortunately, after several hours of not eating I'd get a miserable
migraine, so I DO eat a light lunch, but not till about 2 p.m.-ish usually.
When I finally eat something, it's a given that within a short while, I tend
to feel slightly more "PD-ish."

%@$# DISEASE!!!

Subject: Re: SUGAR/Metabilism

I am following with interest the sugar thread which became for a time
entwined with the dropping Nutrasweet thread. These are in fact
seperate issues. I did not replace nutrasweet with sugar, nor do I
use sugar in tea or coffee. Sugar ,of course, occurs naturally in
many foods but I have not changed my diet other than to drop anything
containing Nutrasweet.

I have noticed, however, that my first dose of medication in the
morning, will often not "kick in" until shortly after eating
breakfast. (This is a pattern that predates my Nutrasweet experiment
by many years). I have often wondered if this is associated with the
increase in metabolic rate which I believe occurs when we eat our
first meal of the day. Is it possible that improvements brought on
by suger intake are also related to changes in metabolic rate.
Perhaps some of the medical professionals on the list might confirm
or deny or otherwise comment on this possibility.

Dennis.
