Dear Sheila The medicarion trazadone is indeed classified as an antidepresssant drug but like all of these wonder drugs, it is used to treat other conditions. Trazadone can be an effective sleep aid but like all sleep medications its efect weakens over time. I have been helped by Ambien, Trazadone, exercise, several of the older antidepresants but have also been disappointed on specific nights and after several weeks by all of them. After one stops working, several weeks on another medication may restore the effectiveness of the origiinal drug.
