Dear Karen & Don,
Thanks so much for your Christmas greeting. We were surprised to
hear you had moved to PA. I, too, miss Alan Bonander. I don't know
whether you ever saw my tribute to him after his death. Here it is
along with best wishes for your new year and life in Pittsburgh:
ALAN
Mentor, listener, friend was he.
He held our hands and made us see
that there was hope in spite of grief
and there were things we could achieve.
He gave himself, helped others mend
lives fraught with fear and sheer despair.
He helped our shattered lives repair.
He had the knowledge, tact and love
to turn the fear and terror of
disease and debilitation grim
to hopefulness, because of him.
