Here I am again with "every PWP's favorite topic"! This time, though it's
good news. I've written about the problems Peter had had with this, and
sent the "Constipation Protocol", etc in the past. Recently Barbara
Robinson posted a recipe for "Fruit Paste", which I think is an old standby
in hospitals, and Peter started using it--now he is having good "results"
every 2 or 3 days, without laxatives or enemas. In addition to the Fruit
Pasts he also uses Lactulose twice a day, and Cisapride(Propulsid) before
meals, with fiber -high diet...BUT he was doing all those things BEFORE the
Fruit Pasts was added, so the cumulative effect may be what does it for
him. In case others are interedted in adding the paste to their regimen,
here's the recipe:

                FRUIT PASTE
Mix 1 cup prune juice with 1 cup applesauce and 1 cup oat (or wheat) bran.
Take 1 Tbsp. as needed.

We use wheat bran, and make about 1/2 the recipe at a time. It refrigerates
well and P. doesn't think it tastes bad....the results are worth it to him!

THANKS, BArbara for suggesting it back in mid-November.
