Tap.exe is a program that uses the D key on the keyboard for left handed tests and the K key on the keyboard for right handed tests. In the test, the left or right index finger one half of the finger and thumb taping procedure...and the correct key simulates the thumb. Each time (R)un the program is selected, the results are written to a file called result.fil. This is where your history is stored and can be view within the program or with notepad, wordpad or DOS edit for printing. What are possible uses for the program? If you wanted to test finger to thumb coordination at different points in your med cycle...this would document your efficiency and speed. If you are dyskinetic...fine...the few keypresses and high miss rate will document the degree of severity. Most mail programs will detach tap.exe and put it in your directory or folder where enclosures are placed. To run the program from DOS, change directories to the directory that your mail program puts enclosures. At the drive prompt, type TAP and then press the Enter key. The program will run and when you select (Q)uit in the program, you will be returned to the drive prompt. To run the program from Windows 3.1, in the Program Manager click on the word File in the title bar and select Run. Use the browse button to change to the directory/folder where your email program puts attachments. Look for Tap.exe and double click on it. The program should run and when it is finished you will be returned to the program manager. To run the program from Windows 95, click on the Start button and select run. Click on the browse button and find the folder email attachments go to... Find Tap.exe and doubleclick on it and then click ok. When you quit the program, you will be returned to the desktop. >>
