>>From a Washington Post Report, in which you were asked to >tell Generation-Xers how much harder you had it in the old days: .................................... >Any additions for those young whippersnappers from the old geezers or >geezerettes on the list? In my day, we didn't have the Internet. We had two tin cans, joined by a very, very, very long piece of string. In my day, we didn't have PD. We used to kill off all our best people in wars, before they had a chance to get old enough. In my day, we didn't have TV news. We had to make do with newsreel movies, and all the "police actions" and "brushfire wars" were over before we got a chance to demonstrate, or to go and get ourselves killed. In my day, we didn't have terrorists. Well, if you don't count your dad telling you what he would do to you for writing rude words on the courthouse wall. In my day, we didn't have religious cults. We were so busy weekdays working, and having fun on Saturdays, and worshipping our God and visiting family on Sundays, we didn't have the time.Any way, all the money we made weekdays was spent on sodas and movies on Saturday, and supporting our community through our place of worship on Sunday, and putting aside a little to have our own family some day. In my day, we didn't have the Parkinson's List. If we didn't get enough loving support and sympathetic aid in our own community, we just had to do without. Jim
