Hm. I don't know how AOL's mail works, but would it be possible for you
to use an "offline" mail program like Eudora? If so, you could download
all your mail to you computer, turn the modem off, read mail, answer
mail, re-connect to AOL and upload all your new letters. That would
minimize your phone-bill...
