Hi

First I would like to say that I have been a part of the list for about four
weeks now and I am so impressed with the support and genuine
concern for each other. It is amazing how the advent of
communicationg through computers can connect people.

I introduced myself a few weeks ago when I joined the list. I am a
second year medical school student who has an uncle with Parkinson's
for about 15 years. He is 54 and needs to be placed in a home b/c he is
not able to function daily anymore. His wife needs to work full time.
They have two daughters in college and need to pay for their education.

Because of the large medical bills and his inability to work the money to
place him in a home is not there. He lives in the Philadelphia/South New
Jersey region. He is a four year veteran of the navy also.

I was wondering if anyone had any information about homes where
GOOD care is given and is affordable. Also are there any benefits that
my uncle would get from being a veteran as far as being placed in a
home. If anyone is familiar w/ the South Jersey/Philadelphia area and will
be able to help me I wouild greatly appreciate it.

Also I was wondering if anyone had any information about a surgery
that I saw on the news to palliate Parkinson's symptoms. I don't know
the name of the surgery but I know the patient was awake during the
procedure.

Has anybody ever had this done? Did anyone have a physician
recommend it?

Please e-mail me at [log in to unmask] if you have any information

Thank you

Sincerely

Jennifer
