FYI... It seems to me that just about EVERYONE not personally connected with PD in some way on a regular basis believes that "the" PD gene has been discovered and that a cure is right around the corner. The attitude of the general public in this issue reminds me how many folks NOW think that diabetes is cured by taking insulin. They're totally oblivious of just how terrible that disease really is, and that people CAN still die from it. Meanwhile, even if someone *HAS* INHERITED the gene for PD - and so far, that's the only Parkinson's gene which has been discovered, there's STILL no cure for the disease. PHOOEY! I'm REALLY ready for that cure! <deep sigh> Barb Mallut [log in to unmask] ---------- From: Parkinson's Information Exchange on behalf of Camilla H.Flintermann Sent: Wednesday, January 28, 1998 3:43 PM To: Multiple recipients of list PARKINSN Subject: Re: NEW GENE?
