A number of people have asked about what happened out at Harbour Centre last month. Here are a couple of ways to find out some things. One is that I was asked to write out some reflections on the conference for the XMCA list (I think that the second-largest identifiable contingent at the Genre conference, after Inkshedders, was subscribers to XMCA). I did that, and they're now up on my Web site, as part of the HyperNews forum I set up in connection with my presentation at the symposium. You can get to them by pointing a Web browser here: http://www.stthomasu.ca:80/HyperNews2/get/sfu/2.html (The short version is that I thought the whole thing was about "uptake.") After the session including presentations by Carol Berkenkotter, Pete Medway, and me, we had a short and somewhat truncated inkshed. After they'd been read, I gathered up the inksheds I could find and transcribed the ones that referred to my stuff (I'd have done them all, but I simply haven't had time). I've now created a kind of simulated HyperNews discussion which includes all those inksheds, and the marginalia that accumulated, and put _them_ on the same forum, here: http://www.stthomasu.ca:80/HyperNews2/get/sfu/3.html And if you want to have a look at my "interactive poster session," a Web site which was running on a computer through the symposium, it's here: http://www.stthomasu.ca/hunt/sfu/ So. There's everything you ever wanted to know about the SFU Genre Symposium, except why . . . -- Russ __|~_ Russell A.
