My father was finally released from the hospital last Monday. We moved
him into an assisted living facility, and are hoping for the best.

He has done well on Clozaril (25mg/day) and Sinimet (25/250 4x/day).
We've encountered a problem with the Clozaril prescription, and I'd
appreciate some advice. Because of the need for a weekly blood test,
the doctor is only allowed to prescribe a 7 day supply. Making matters
worse, there is only one pharmacy in town that will fill it. (The local
CVS took the discharge orders and gave us Elavil instead..."I never
heard of Clozaril, I thought it said Elavil"...yikes)

Making matters worse is that as of Feb 1 there has been a change in the
laws in No Carolina concerning assisted living, lab work and Medicare.
The facility is no longer able to bill Medicare for labs done by their
in-home health contractor, and as of Friday had not found an
alternative. My plan is to arrange for an in-home health company on my
own. Is anyone familiar with this change and able to advise me? I'm in
a quandry, as we're out of Clozaril, and need a script today!!

Any thoughts?
